Terrance Ralph Rand

ST. ALBANS BAY – Terrance Ralph Rand, 79 years old, passed away on Sunday, July 14 at the UVM Medical Center.  He resided at St. Albans Bay. Terry was predeceased by his parents Ralph P. Rand and Edna M. Rand (Coveau).

Terry graduated from Bellows Free Academy in St. Albans. He was a Staff Sergeant in the Air National Guard in Colchester.  He had an Honorary Discharge after 11 years of service. He then worked at Mitchell’s Machine Shop as a machinist. Terry then went to work for Chevalier Well Drilling for the duration of his working years and retired into his 70’s . 

Terry was an avid hunter and fisherman, which he shared with his grandson, Tanner. Tanner, for the last few years has been Terry’s fishing partner for the LCI Fishing Derby, which Terry was the grand prize winner in 1992 with an Atlantic Salmon. He had many special friends during his life that shared his love for the outdoors, Scott Livingston, Bobbie Phoenix, and Terry Malone just to name a few.

Terry married the love of his life that he met at the roller skating rink in Highgate, Freda A. Vanslette, who survives him. Terry and Freda were married for 59 years. They had four daughters together, all of which survive him. Ann Burke and her spouse John, and their children, Connor and Isabel; Sue Rand and her significant other Mike Pierce, and Sue’s children, daughter Morgan and her significant other Kyle and their daughter Nora, and son Jordan; Cindy Rand VanTine and her spouse Bill, and their daughter Emelia; Tammy Francis and her significant other Louis Cline, and Tammy’s son Tanner. Also surviving Terry is his son-in-law Kevin Potter who was very special to him. Terry was predeceased by Tammy’s husband, Andrew Francis.

A Funeral Service will be held Friday, July 19, 2019 at 2 p.m. in the Brady & Levesque Funeral Chapel. The family will receive condolences from 1 p.m. until the hour of the funeral service. Interment will follow in the Rand family lot in St. Albans Bay Cemetery.

As an alternative to flowers, memorials may be made to the Franklin County Animal Rescue, 30 Sunset Meadows, St. Albans, VT 05478.
